The Kenai River
The Kenai is world-famous for a reason. If you want to maximize your chances of catching high volumes of fish — particularly the legendary late-run sockeye — this is your river. Powerboats allow guides to cover massive stretches quickly, and the fall rainbow trout fishery produces fish of 20–30+ inches.
Note: King Salmon sport fishing is closed on the Kenai River for 2026 by ADF&G emergency order. Plan accordingly.
Kenai River Intelligence Hub →The Kasilof River
The Kasilof is the Kenai Peninsula's best-kept secret. No motors means no boat noise — just you, the river, and the sound of eagles overhead. The Kasilof has historically been one of the most reliable King Salmon rivers on the lower peninsula, and because most Kings are hatchery-origin, it often remains open even during Kenai closures.
The drift-boat experience here is unmatched for photography, wildlife viewing, and relaxed angling with your family.
